We regularly curate independent film screenings, publish film reviews, keep abreast of industry developments, and report on international film festivals to create more beneficial dialogues between Chinese and British filmmakers and audiences.

Pride in Ordinary Times

Traditional Chinese queer cinema centers on marginalization, stigma and trauma. Departing from such narratives, Pride in Ordinary Times gathers transnational short films to explore queer everyday life, intimacy and self-becoming. It redefines queer pride as quiet, authentic daily happiness instead of mere resistance and struggle.

What We Do

Film Curation

We curate thematic screening programmes with a focus on Sinophone and Asian cinema. Through these programmes, we aim to amplify emerging voices and introduce their work to wider audiences in the UK, fostering cross-cultural dialogue and engagement.

Film Promotion

By connecting their work with festivals, screening platforms, and cultural institutions, we develop a film sales and circulation strategy to support the visibility of emerging filmmakers, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds.

Rino Lu

Founder and Director

Rino is a film critic, curator, and film practitioner working across international cinema and transnational film culture. He writes bilingually in Chinese and English, with work published in numerous international outlets. His practice operates at the intersection of criticism, festival circulation, and Asian diasporic cinema.

Siran Cai

Co-Founder

Siran is an independent film producer and curator based in London. Her creative work focuses on diverse human stories, with a particular emphasis on gender issues and marginalized perspectives. Through her engagement with film festivals and cinema, she hopes to bring marginalized narratives into the public sphere and make them part of broader social dialogue.
